The prices of monitors have fallen sharply in recent years and we often decide to buy a second monitor, sometimes larger than the first, sometimes identical. Laptop owners also usually prefer to use a second monitor for many activities.
If we have two or more monitors that are connected to one computer, for example, starting the game in fullscreen mode – this will always run on the main, primary monitor. What to do in such a situation, if we want to play using the second monitor?
There are several solutions to this problem, but none of them might be perfect for your needs.
First solution to playing a game in fullscreen on second monitor
Right-click on the desktop and select Screen Resolution, then click on the secondary monitor and check the Make this display primary box. Now just click Apply or OK. Unfortunately, this has its downside (pluses for some) – all desktop icons, toolbar, etc. will now be displayed on the second monitor.
Second method for gaming in fullscreen
After starting the game, press the Windows button (next to Alt, usually on the left side) and the letter P on the keyboard simultaneously. A small window will appear where you can select Projector Only mode. The game will automatically move to the second monitor in full screen mode, however the first monitor will be turned off.
Third method – Steam
You can use Steam and Big Picture mode, and after launching it in the Image settings, select the second monitor from the dropdown list. From now on, all games launched by Steam and Big Picture mode will be in full screen mode on the selected second monitor.
