Eric Blehm, author of the award-winning The Last Season, is back with another true adventure story, The Only Thing Worth Dying For. Set in the immediate aftermath of 9/11, The Only Thing Worth Dying For chronicles the untold story of the team of Green Berets led by Captain Jason Amerine that conquered the Taliban and helped bring Hamid Karzai to power in Afghanistan. In the tradition of Black Hawk Down, The Only Thing Worth Dying For is, in the words of former Congressman Charlie Wilson (from Charlie Wilson's War), "the one book you must read if you have any hope of understanding what our fine American soldiers are up against in Afghanistan."

  • Amazing Book

    By Cyber_Grunt
Depicting the early days of the war on terror in Afghanistan by Special Forces. The courage and balls of all these operators is truly amazing. This book is a great read!,,,,,

Thank you to ODA 574! To those who gave the ultimate sacrifice upon the altar of freedom, you are not forgotten. God Speed.

If Uncle Sam can screw it up, this is a sure-fire example. The men are placed in a 'draw', a low-lying piece of groud surrounded by mountains. They know it's a death trap before they even drop their packs but they go because they were told to. Tthe story make us proud and disgusted all at once.
  • History Lesson

    By Retired OIF vet
This book is a history lesson about modern day Afghanistan and the brave men who made it possible. Our brothers did not die in vain.

Heartbreaking, riveting, and dismay all rolled up in one story.
  • Heroic story, but poorly told

    By Some guy 000
While I found the bravery and accomplishments of our men to be inspiring, the book itself was slow and poorly written. For me, it really dragged especially compared to the many great books out there from the frontlines.
  • Movie Time

    By Skeeter Gene
Tremendous story, should be a movie.
  • United states special forces

This book really puts everything in prospective. If the united states government has its hands on anything it is going to turn bad because they are so media driven! Having said that it's men like this that make you proud to be an American! Thank you for your duties!

Hands down, the best book I've had the pleasure in reading. Mr Blehm tells a truly amazing story of the gunfighters of ODA 574. I couldn't stop reading it from the start and I plan on reading it again soon.
