The #1 New York Times bestseller—a thrilling new romance from E L James, author of the phenomenal bestselling Fifty Shades Trilogy.

London, 2019. Life has been easy for Maxim Trevelyan. With his good looks, aristocratic connections, and money, he’s never had to work and he’s rarely slept alone. But all that changes when tragedy strikes and Maxim inherits his family’s noble title, wealth, and estates, and all the responsibility that entails. It’s a role he’s not prepared for and one that he struggles to face.
But his biggest challenge is fighting his desire for an unexpected, enigmatic young woman who’s recently arrived in England, possessing little more than a dangerous and troublesome past.  Reticent, beautiful, and musically gifted, she’s an alluring mystery, and Maxim’s longing for her deepens into a passion that he’s never experienced and dares not name. Just who is Alessia Demachi? Can Maxim protect her from the malevolence that threatens her? And what will she do when she learns that he’s been hiding secrets of his own?
From the heart of London through wild, rural Cornwall to the bleak, forbidding beauty of the Balkans, The Mister is a roller-coaster ride of danger and desire that leaves the reader breathless to the very last page.

  • Good story

This book was a good read. I think the characters were good but the story dragged a bit for me. It took me much longer to get through the book than my normal speed. It wasn’t a big page turner for me.
  • Waiting for the second book.

When I start reading a book I really like it’s hard for me to even sleep at night. This book, I will admit, was something I wasn’t sure I wanted to read. I am obsessed with the Fifty Shades series and I didn’t know if the author could live up to the hype from that series. Let me tell you, it did. Before I read this book I had just finished reading Christian Grey’s version of the first two books and then read the third book of the original series. I found myself reading the third book wanting to have Christian’s thoughts and what he saw in Ana. I still hope there will be a third book for Christian’s version. What I hoped for with Christian and Ana in their series was having a compilation of their thoughts in certain situations. I had the chance to read both versions but wanted it in the moment as i was reading one boom not two. Often times you see writes have one chapter devoted to one character and it will flip flop through out the book. I, as a reader, sometimes enjoy this, but more so find myself wanting to see the story through the protagonist’s eyes because that’s how the series started. In the case of, Mister, I was surprised that E. L. James gave me just that. I don’t have to read an extra book to see Maxim’s version or Alessia’s. That is why I love this book so much. After reading it the first time I looked to see if there was a second one in the works. I scrolled through twitter, Instagram, Facebook, google just to see if there were any hints of a series. I was so excited by the ending that I quite literally started the book again. So I have now read the book twice in one week. This book is a feel good book and it’s exactly what I wanted to read during quarantine. I, however, do have to say I was expecting a little more detail in the sex scenes like there were in Fifty Shades, but I was still very pleased with the book. So I’m patiently waiting for book two. You can’t leave us hanging, when there is so much more that can happen between Maxim and Alessia!
  • Entertaining

This book was pretty entertaining especially in the first half of it. I found myself comparing it to 50 shades unfortunately many times and it didn’t quite grab my attention quite as much.
  • Left you wanting more!

Such a great book, definitely need a second book. Theres actual romance not as twisted as the fifty shades but still intense and exciting !

  • You can do better than this EL James

Seriously what a douche book. It’s an insult to Eastern European woman and woman in general. I’m one of those that always roots for the author and I had to drag myself over the finish line, because it just hurt my intelligence so much. Now you got the whole of Europe hoping they can faint Prince Charming in England once the book is translated🤣🤣🤣
  • Loved!!!

I loved this book so much!! I’ve already read the book twice. I’ll probably read it again soon. Im so happy she based the story out of England. The thought of a tall sexy Englishman is very alluring. I hope there is another book. I feel like Maxim and Alessia have more to tell 🧡
  • The ending👀

I truly loved the book. Everything was so intriguing. But the thing that really has me feeling some type of way is the ending. Like what the heck how can you just end it like that 😫!!

I was hesitant to read this book due to the fact that I loved Fifty Shades Of Gray, and read it more than once. I was right to be hesitant. Don’t get me wrong it was a decent read, but a little slow and I lost the plot somewhere in the middle. I skipped around a lot, and by doing this I still didn’t miss anything. I will say that it was an okay read.
