Description

The instant New York Times bestseller!

FIND YOUR WILL, FIND YOUR DISCIPLINE--AND YOU WILL FIND YOUR FREEDOM

Jocko Willink's methods for success were born in the SEAL Teams, where he spent most of his adult life, enlisting after high school and rising through the ranks to become the commander of the most highly decorated special operations unit of the war in Iraq. In Discipline Equals Freedom, the #1 New York Times bestselling coauthor of Extreme Ownership describes how he lives that mantra: the mental and physical disciplines he imposes on himself in order to achieve freedom in all aspects of life. Many books offer advice on how to overcome obstacles and reach your goals—but that advice often misses the most critical ingredient: discipline. Without discipline, there will be no real progress. Discipline Equals Freedom covers it all, including strategies and tactics for conquering weakness, procrastination, and fear, and specific physical training presented in workouts for beginner, intermediate, and advanced athletes, and even the best sleep habits and food intake recommended to optimize performance.

Within these pages discover the keys to becoming stronger, smarter, faster, and healthier. There is only one way to achieve true freedom: The Way of Discipline. Read this book and find The Way.

It's well written and to the point! If you can't figure out how to make it fit into your civilian life then you're not trying hard enough because almost all of the things they say except battle will fit. The two of them are both very much real life heroes!

I can’t think of a worse book for those seeking a system for developing discipline skills. The author gives a few pointers about what discipline looks like but doesn’t build a plan from scratch. Much of the book is filled with workout guides, martial arts, and dealing with physical danger, but little that’s actually useful. The bar is set so high that this book is less about helping average people acquire discipline and more about the author boasting about how disciplined he is. It’s a great assent to those who have significant discipline but ultimately unhelpful to the rest of us.
  • To the point

Like a lot of Jocko’s info, he is straight to the point. It was inspiring and makes you think hard about the things you want to do and how you are going to do them. Good read.

Good basic tips to help you be disciplined and the importance of being healthy. The important thing with this book is you have to eat the meat and spit out the bones. Remember the author is coming from a military mindset and many of the principles do not apply for everyday individuals. So definitely use the tips but tweak them to you. Otherwise well written and quick read.

I keep this book on me at all times to remind me to stay disciplined and focused on goals! It has benefitted my mental health as a behavioral health nurse and graduate student . I get my HITT workouts done each week, studying every day done in addition to my Keto Diet . The writing is simple but it sticks !

You can’t help but be motivated by this book...if you are willing to be open and honest with yourself. Some of the things that are said in the book may be hard to swallow. Some of it may be hard to accept. If you walk into this journey with a “way out” mentality, this book isn’t for you. If you want to change your life. Change your path. Change your mental wiring, then this book is for you. I can’t put it any more simply than that. I have the utmost respect for the military, our special forces, as well as the Navy Seal teams in particular, and I am honored to have this perspective at my fingertips. I will reference it regularly and will also refer to it to maintain my commitment to myself and my journey. Thank you sir. Keep up the good work.

I just finished this very informative book. It helped me to remember what is important when I’m trying to improve in my physical fitness and in other aspects of my life. Being a veteran myself I was able to relate and take the information the author was delivering on a deeper level to work past a sticking point, both in my conditioning and in my Jiu Jitsu training. I highly recommend reading this book and not just internalizing it’s theme, but acting on it and incorporating it into your daily life. I promise you won’t be disappointed!
