Description

USA Today bestselling author Catherine Gayle presents another novel in the emotional Portland Storm hockey romance series.

Can you fall in love when you’ve never loved yourself?

Universally misjudged, Blake Kozlow doesn’t let society get under his skin. After all, those misunderstandings have never affected his career. As a center for the Portland Storm, he’s lived his life as a Free Agent—particularly with women. But when he meets a gorgeous, curvy special education teacher, Blake realizes he’s finally met the one person who truly understands him.

Beatriz Castillo knows exactly what she wants—to teach her students that nothing can hold them back. A few years ago, her health was spiraling out of control, but Bea took her life back. Now, she uses her vivacious personality to prove to everyone, especially her students, that anything is possible.

Perpetually impulsive and spontaneous, Blake turns on the charm. But Bea’s unprepared to be on the receiving end of such brazen attention. As they grow closer and their attraction intensifies, their inner demons threaten everything. They’ve both always lived on the fringes of life. But moving forward will require Bea and Blake to step into the spotlight—together.

Free Agent is the story of the Portland Storm’s bad boy Blake Koslow and Dani Williams best friend and special ed teacher Bea Castillo. Bea and Koz went on a set up date long ago that did not work out. Koz has a habit of speaking without thinking that regularly gets him in trouble with his team but this time he really blew it. What leads him to these outbursts? To make up for what he has done he is thrown together with Bea. Bea has her own self esteem issues. Can these two broken souls find a way to get along. Catherine Gayle tackles some tough and interesting issues while telling this beautiful but painful story. Definitely a 10 star read.

This is the next installment in the Portland Storm series and finally we get Blake “Koz” Kozlow’s story. I have been waiting to see how Catherine Gayle was going to redeem Koz because really he is a pretty big jerk. But in true Catherine Gayle style, Koz and Bea are now one of my favorite couples. I loved this book, in fact, I read it twice because it was that good and I wanted to experience it all again. I loved the real Koz, and Bea is his perfect counterpart. This story had so many real and true feelings that we all have. I experienced a whole range of emotions on this on it had me laughing out loud and misty eyed too. It touched on so many emotions and personal things we all feel, that it was like I really knew these characters. Another win for the Portland Storm and Ms. Gayle on this one and excellent read an I highly recommend! ***I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.

Free Agent is the latest book in Catherine Gayle's Portland Storm hockey romance series featuring Blake 'Koz' Kozlow, the player that everyone loves to hate. Koz doesn't seem to have a care in the world and never believes in censoring himself, so when he gets himself into hot water over a social media post, the team assigns him to work in Bea Castillo's classroom. I loved reading Bea and Koz's journey to romantic happiness. They both have many inner thoughts and insecurities that complicated their journey to a Happily Ever After, but their imperfections make the characters that much more lovable. Koz can be sweet and is fiercely protective over those he loves. I love reading him win over Bea's reluctant heart. I highly recommend this book. I truly love and appreciate how much research Catherine puts into her novels. I love her whole series and Koz has been another great read. I really enjoyed getting to know Koz and getting to the root of what makes him tick. I found Bea a little bit difficult to like at the beginning of the book, but it got a little better as the story progressed.

Wow! Catherine Gayle definitely does a lot of research for her books and really helps your knowledge of certain subjects to grow so you are not left wondering what something is or why it needs to be done. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like Koz after reading about him in some of the other books but I did. That being said I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Koz and Bea. I loved this book and think you will also. *I received an ARC of this book but I also plan on buying it.*
  • Another good read in this series

This was another great story in this series. I adored Koz and how he knew he didn't communicate things right, but was trying the only way he knew how. Bea has her own issues and her own opinion of Koz. When he turns to her for help, she sees things about Koz she never would have expected. I loved watching these two open up to each other. Koz was alone in the world besides his grandma, and Bea really was, too, since her family did not support her choices at all. I loved watching these two find their way and conquer the obstacles in front of them. Another solid read in this series.
  • Redemption

Redemption, Gayle’s newest Portland Storm book is all about overcoming hurdles and fixing how the public sees us, or how we view ourselves. This is the journey of Blake Kozlow and Bea Castillo. We all make mistakes, most of us don’t screw up quite as grandly as Koz, Blake Kozlow. If you’ve read any of the Portland Storm series (and I sincerely hope you have) you’ve undoubtedly read some cringe worthy comment or scene involving Koz. He’s a self proclaimed douchecanoe, he has a constant case of foot in mouth disease. Can he be redeemed? Can Catherine Gayle take this annoying, immature character and make him sweet and lovable? Oh yes she can! We’ve met a Bea before, she’s Dani’s quiet, used to be fat friend and client. She sees herself as a DUFF not a beautiful mature woman worthy of love. Her redemption is internal, can she see herself the way others see her, will she finally believe herself to be desirable? The budding relationship is full of sweetness, frustration and several laugh out loud moments. You’ll be excited to hear from some old Storm favorites, and meet a few new characters as well. This book is a welcome trip back into the fictional Portland Storm universe, and it’s a beautiful journey you’ll be glad you experienced.
